Due to an overwhelming response to our workshop on hermit crabs we have decided to offer three more workshops!

At this Family Workshop, visitors will learn all about the wonderful world of Hermit Crabs. Find out what they are? Where they live? What they eat? Did you know that Hermit Crabs actually sing? That they breathe with modified gills? Find out all about these great little creatures and then take two home with you. We'll help each family set up a crabarium, teach you how to take care of it and then send you home with all the right supplies to give your new little clawed friend a happy little home. All materials are supplied and include: Two hermit crabs, crabarium, shells, salt water, fresh water, food packets, care sheets and more! read more »

Hermit Crab Workshop

Today was our Family Science - Hermit Crab Workshop. We had about 38 participants that learned about Hermit Crabs and left with two crabs to take home as new pets. We hope that in addition to enjoying the new additions to their families, the participants will continue to talk back to us via this website. We want to know how the crabs are doing, how they are behaving, heck, send us some photos of the little critters! Photography Workshop

Saturday, February 17, 11:00am–12:30pm

A professional photographer will be on hand to talk with you and your family about what they do, what equipment they use, how it works and what inspires their artwork. You’ll be able to take a peek inside of a pinhole camera, see first hand how nature helps to provide similar equipment to that of camera by making a sun print, and then take home some materials that react to light in amazing and exciting ways. On top of all that, participants are being asked to take part in a photographic tour of Toledo, with a twist. We want all of our budding photographers to go out into the world and capture images to send back to COSI. read more »
